Abstract

The high incidence of malnutrition in children is caused by various factors including the following of knowledge of mothers about early detection of malnutrition in children under five as well as the child's daily eating behavior. This study aims to detect of malnutrition in children under five using a modified STRONGkids application (Screening Tool Risk On Nutritional And Growth). The research design uses Quasy Experimental Design one group pretest-posttest design. The sample is mothers with children aged 12 – 59 months many as 71 respondents in Puskesmas Kecamatan Koja area who were taken by purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed by dependent t test, and AUC analyze with use as method Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve. There was an increase in the average score of maternal knowledge with a p-value 0,000 and child eating behavior with a p-value 0,003 before and after being given intervention using the modified STRONGkids application. Modified STRONGkids application analysis has a sensitivity value of 83.33%, a specificity of 25.71%, a positive predictive value of 53.57%, a negative predictive value of 60%, a positive likelihood ratio of 1.12, a negative likelihood ratio of 0.65. The AUC value of 0.875 (87.5%) is classified as good, the ROC curve shows a away curve with a line of 50% and approach a line of 100%. The modification of the STRONGkids application can diagnose patients with malnutrition, besides that in this application there is an influence of mother's knowledge and children's eating behavior on the risk of malnutrition in children under five. This screening is very helpful in early detection of malnutrition so that follow-up is needed at the Health Office and Puskesmas to be more varied in detecting malnutrition, and attention to the results of KMS under five who are routinely weighed in Posyandu, and identifying comorbidities that increase the risk of malnutrition in children.
