Abstract

After ACL reconstruction surgery, patients need rehabilitation to help the process of restoring movement function. One of the nursing interventions that can be provided is the Range of Motion (ROM) exercise which aims to describe the application of ROM exercises in patients after ACL reconstruction surgery with physical mobility disorders in the Darmawan Pavilion on the VI Floor of Gatot Soebroto Hospital. Methods: This scientific paper uses a case study method with a nursing care approach in one patient after ACL reconstruction surgery. The intervention was in the form of active and passive ROM exercises on the lower extremities and gradual mobilization was carried out for three days, namely May 5-7, 2026. Results: The results of the study showed that there was a development of the patient's condition during the implementation of ROM exercises. After performing ROM exercises gradually for three days, the pain decreased from scale 6 to 3, increased mobilization ability was characterized by the ability to tilt right and left independently and sit at an elevation of 90°. In addition, the results of the Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) examination at the end of the observation showed that the strength of the muscles of the lower left extremity was on a scale of 3/5. Conclusion: The application of Range of Motion (ROM) exercises helps support the recovery process of patients after ACL reconstruction surgery which is characterized by decreased pain, increased mobilization ability, and development of muscle strength during the observation period.
