Abstract
A frequently occurring chronic complication is peripheral neuropathy, which triggers the formation of diabetic ulcers. If not managed properly, ulcers can develop severe infections, leading to the risk of amputation. Modern wound care based on moist wound healing using honey dressing has become an effective alternative due to its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties that can accelerate tissue regeneration. Objective: To apply nursing care focusing on wound care intervention using honey dressing for the healing of a patient with diabetic ulcers. Methods: This study used a descriptive design with a case study approach on one DM patient experiencing impaired skin/tissue integrity in the Dermawan Pavilion Room, 6th Floor of RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, Central Jakarta. The implementation was conducted for three days (May 4–6, 2026) by applying sterile honey after the wound was cleansed using a 0.9% NaCl solution. Results: After wound care was performed for 3×24 hours, the condition of the ulcer showed significant improvement. Slough tissue and edema decreased, purulent discharge disappeared, the pain scale decreased from 3 to 1, and granulation tissue began to form. Conclusion: The application of honey dressing is proven effective in accelerating the healing process of diabetic ulcers. Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus, Diabetic Ulcer, Honey Dressing, Wound Heali
